Sawiri (spelled Souairi in Google Earth) is a mid-sized town (village) in the eastern part of Lebanon. It is located on the Syrian border beside Masnaa Center , in governorate of Bekaa in the foothills of the eastern mountains. Sawiri is a beautiful town consisting of one of the most beautiful people .Sawiri people are known for their strength and manhood and generosity in Lebanon , Sawiri people paid a big invoice in Lebanon from deprivation and keeping serving Lebanon from army and internal forces and from all securities parts on Lebanese land , so As I am Sawirian man I am very proud to have a new educated Generation From Doctors , Captains , Engineers teachers….

Sawiri's population is over 10,000 people with many of its inhabitants having immigrated to the USA, Brazil, Venezuela, Canada and France, KSA , Qatar , Kuwait in the 1900s. The major surnames or families in Sawiri are Amer, Berro, Balhis, El Smaily(Smaily or Smaili), Youssef, Abdel razak,Zeitoun, Shouman, Abou Nemry, Taleb and Janbain etc ….

Until the early 1990s, Sawiri had only two schools (Makased School and Sawiri Official School) educating up to Grade 9 and the akadmic manager before 2000 was Mr. teacher Ibrahim Smili , and now managed by mohammad janbine . At that time, the Sawiris used to continue their high school education in the neighbour towns of their village and then their university studies in Beirut. Sawiri nowadays has three big schools which allow the students to pass the Lebanese Brevet Examinations (Grade 9). Sawiri has one high school (Grade 12) which is funded by the Lebanese Ministry of Education. This high school is called: Sawiri Official High School directed by teacher Mohammad Berro. It started in 2003
Agriculture in Sawir

Sawiri is an agriculture and service oriented town. Most people own their land and come from a farming background. Sawiri produces lentils, figs, and Armenian cucumbers (mikthi). However, olive, Almond, nut and cherry trees have been grown rapidly as well as grape vines of all sorts in the last 3 decades. In the last 15 years, many "Sawiris" started growing up peanuts (Sterculia quadrifida) trees too.

Sawiri starts From Masanaa Center until Manar or “ Hammara”. Sawiri has a big Soua for Moahmmad Abdallah beside masnaa center near to first petrel station , also there are Alaain we will add pictures inshallah soon , also there is hai elshmees and ain elmintni , andalmaghreek , and the spcial center “ almohfara” Where is Othman janbine has a small shop before , now Yasar Smili Occupied the location asking God safe him ,
Sawiri's Neighborhood
Sawiri is very close to Anjar, Majdal Anjar , and Baalbek where ancient history can be seen in the Roman and Omayad ruins.
